West African Dance Classes

Baba and Sarah Lee teach a variety of traditional dances from Guinea, Mali and Senegal, West Africa. You will find yourself enjoying the movements of these dances, as well as the workout it gives you. With their friendly "show and go" style of teaching, you will develop the strength, fitness and coordination needed to move and express yourself through these amazing and joyous African dances. In class, you will learn the movement vocabulary and rhythms that make up this beautiful art form and meet great like-minded people. Come out and give it a try, you will LOVE IT!

7:30-9:00pm: Intermediate Level
$25/class, or 6+ for$20 each

While we would not turn any body away, we are teaching this class at an “intermediate level” for people with at least some previous African Dance experience.

This class has live drumming, is drop in, and is taught by both Baba Kauna and Sarah Lee!

Tipping the drummers is highly encouraged!

From time to time we offer this Introduction Series to support people who are new to West African Dance. While all of our classes are open to all levels, this is a great class to come and learn basic technique and some straightforward steps in a fun setting! This series will give you the foundation and confidence to participate fully in all levels classes.

Thursday Evening Classes at OM Culture

This class is a 1 hour “workshop” held from 6:45-7:45p, before the weekly Ecstatic Dance Session. We are currently scheduled to lead this workshop ongoingly.

This class has live drumming, is BEGINNING LEVEL and is taught by Baba Kauna and Sarah Lee.

Payment for the class is made at the class to the organizers. Tipping the drummers is highly encouraged!
