Cultural Trips to Guinea West Africa

Compare our trips

One World Dance & Drum is thrilled to now be able to offer you two very distinct phenomenal cultural immersion trips to Guinea West Africa! While all of our trips always offer clean, simple, secure group accommodations, fresh delicious African food, exceptional hospitality and excellent level-specific dance and drum instruction, we are excited to now be offering 2 very different venues for all of this:  Coastal, and Inland Villages. Take a look and see which one is right for you.

Trip 1:  Coastal Guinea

Madame au MarcheThis exciting adventure is great for someone wanting more of a home stay experience with a beautiful African family. Based at our simple, comfortable campus in Tomboliya, a lovely suburb of Guinea’s capital Conakry, you will enjoy the local markets and community living. This trip includes lots of cultural immersion, an incredible 3 day trip to the rain forest, as well as a 3 day trip to an extraordinary tropical island. A great first-time-to-Africa trip!

Trip 2:  Inland Guinea Villages

This trip is chock full of off-the-beaten-path and hard-to-get-to experiences, and is best suited for the more seasoned traveler. Starting off with 2 days at our Tomboliya campus, we quickly venture eastward into the heart of Guinea, the land of the ancient and rich traditions of the Mandingue Empire. Spend a week living simply in the remote village of Dembayara, and then travel up country to Kankan and ancient villages in the Hamanah region: Kouroussa, Baro, Koumana, Sangbaralla...and more. At the "Festival de Faranah" you will see spectacles by groups from all over Guinea and her neighboring countries of Mali, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso,  and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Previously extremely difficult to experience, we are making it a bit easier to taste the remote village life and culture of Haute Guinea!
