What to expect

Your dance and drum filled getaway weekend will inspire and enliven your life with the infectious rhythm and dance of Guinea, West Africa! Whether you are new to dancing and drumming, or you have been studying for years, you will find value in the 4 high energy dance classes and 3 amazing drum classes.
In addition to these classes, you will deepen your understanding of the culture, music and dance of Guinea at the fireside chat, and while dancing and drumming the night away at the TWO Dundunba Parties!

You will have time to…explore the beautiful surroundings with a walk or a hike; unwind with a relaxing massage; read a book on the deck over looking the water; or, perhaps best of all, chat and connect with other amazing people attending the retreat.
The inspiration, knowledge and connections you will gain from attending this retreat promise to last long past this incredible weekend.

Weekend schedule

Get in the car Friday afternoon, drive to the Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal, cross the water (20 minutes), and drive 25 minutes south to arrive at the retreat location Friday evening around 4:00pm.

FRIDAY
4:00-5:00pm:  Arrive at retreat
5:00-6:00pm:  Settle into camp – ahh!
6:00-7:00pm: Dinner
7:00-7:30pm: Introductions & welcome!
7:30-9:00pm: Dance class
9:30pm-late: Dance & drum dundunba party!

SATURDAY
7:30-8:30am: Breakfast
9:00-10:30am: Drum class - Beginners
10:30-12noon: Dance class
12:00-1:00pm: Lunch
1:00-2:30pm: Free time (relax, take a walk/hike, have a chat, read a book, get a massage, have a private class…)
2:30-4:00pm: Drum class - Intermediate
4:30-6:00pm: Dance class
6:30-7:30pm: Dinner
8:00-9:30pm: Fireside chat and singing (get all your questions answered about this music, dance and culture we adore!)
9:30pm-late: Dance & Drum Dundunba party! (round 2!)

SUNDAY
7:30-8:30am: Light breakfast
9:00-10:30am: Dance class
11:00-12:00pm: Brunch
1:00-2:30pm: Drum class - All levels
3:00-4:00pm:  Closing circle
4:00pm: check out: Return home at your leisure, well rested with lots of fond memories and lots of new friends!

About the location

Beautiful Camp Sealth is located on nearly 400 acres of incredible forest and wetlands on the southwest shore of the magnificent Vashon Island, Washington. The property includes over a mile of gorgeous saltwater beaches along Colvos Passage.

The main camp area, right on the water, features a large playfield, dining hall, campfire amphitheatre, beautiful views, plants and fresh sea air. Enjoy near-pristine forests while hiking miles of trails along and within the wetlands and waterfront.  Relax, refresh and revive in this revitalizing outdoor environment, a perfect setting for those who appreciate a relaxed wilderness atmosphere.

Classes and meals will be held in the spacious main lodge with wood floors and big windows that bring the outdoors in; this is the essence of the best of Pacific Northwest life! Group sleeping accommodations in cabins clustered throughout this amazing north woods setting provide you the chance to really experience this incredible natural location while connecting with others attending the camp.
